Peanut Butter Cookies

1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix flour and sugar. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Chill dough for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375. Roll dough into small balls about 1". Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes or until light brown. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
